Music Review : Cocktail

Let the beach party begin! Cherubically electronic and peppery in funky tones, the first offering ''Tumhi Ho Bandhu'', a rollicking dancing track sets the mood on fire and curtains up a lively trendy music show by ever reliable Pritam. Kavita Seth's (of ''Iktara'' (WAKE UP SID) fame) breezily earthen vocals sounds noticeably bright and catalyzes up the 'pep-factor' in those shimmery feminine friendly tones. Neeraj Sridhar, a promising vocal in Pritam's fervent tracks, sings as intermittently flamboyant back-up vocal supports and gives it an added thrusting thrive. This funk-licious track is brilliant amalgam of trance and electronica rhythmical beat patterns and delivers some quality display of electronic keyboards, thumping percussive moves and distorted electronic guitar riffs. Irshad Kamil's compassionately friendly wording takes a bow to devotional Morning Prayer (''Tumhi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi'' (MAIN CHUP RAHUNGI (1962)) in delivering out youthfully peppy emotions and connects well with the jovial decorum of the track. After Amit Trivedi's beautifully composed ''Iktara'' (WAKE UP SID), Kavita Seth delivers out a spectacular that should not only be a massy hit but will surely be adding to this year's finest party tracks, a much deserved DJ 'club-remix' is the only missing link in the album. Hip-Shaking!!!

Friendship-Fraternity-Forever! Upbeat friendly tones takes intoxicating vibes in ''Daru Desi'', a guitarist friendly number that brings out a compassionate feel of 'being together' against all odds and enjoying every moment of it with great zeal. This Pritam composed track has synchronized Spanish acoustic guitar riffs that deliver an infectious signature tuneful impact that lingers-on in senses. Benny Dayal's cool and huskier tones are indeed peppy in moods, delivering out the desired carefree and considerate feel. Shalmali Kholgade, surprise factor of ''Pareshan'' (ISHAQZAADE), naive sounding have ''girlie'' campus-caper Indi-Pop binge and suits the mood to hilt. Amitabh Bhattacharya's ''happy-go-lucky'' lyrics are really poetic delight, from carrying 'timeless' motivational feel (''Waqt Bhi Sarfira Sa Lage, Bhaagta Sa Rahe Har Jage, Waqt Ko Inn Dino Sujhne Hai Lagi Dillagi...'') to light-hearted imperturbable feel (''Dhoop Ko Thaam Ke, Chal Pade Na Thake, Fursaton Mein Rahe, Kaam Ho Naam Ke, Befikar Befikar Subha Suhaani Ho Khali Ho Pal Sham Ke...''), the entire track is indeed a ''easy-on-ears'' listening delight. To sum up, Pritam delivers another winner in ''Daaru Desi'', a feel-good 'cool' musical move in the light moments of the flick and probably another chartbuster from the album. Cool!!!

From being ignited and later intoxicated with deliriously loud peppy friendly feel, mood contorts to 'blue-romantic' sensitively plucked rock-concert feel in well-versed ''Yaariyan''. It brings out an alternate rock-anthem-ic feel where the 'heart-break' is epitomized in serenely ushered vocals, sensitively played drums, caring chorals and rhythmically delivered electronic distorted guitar riffs. Mohan Kanan (lead vocalist of AGNEE) makes a soulful outcry in varying singing shades and delivers soothing meditative touches. This is one of the most notable experimentation in genre as well as in vocals that should spring positive surprises. Distressed and mournful in emotions, Mohan's excruciating voice sublimes well into the contours of alternative rock-band thrives and later connects well with Shilpa Rao's affectionately booming voice. For every listener concern, Mohan collaborated brilliantly with Pritam and Raghu Ram in delivering out a gem of performance in ''Aahatein'' (MTV Splitsville 4 theme track), a song from similar genre and league and 'Yaariyan' simply adds to the glory. ''Yaariyan (reprise)'' has soft-serene Bollywood-ish familiar musical feel as it brings back its one of its favorite diva Sunidhi Chauhan on center-stage. It has the tranquil feel of Mariah Carey's R&B/Soul tracks feel, where tender piano drills along with gentle acoustic guitar riffs forms a beautiful decorum. Arijit Singh's classical 'alaaps' in varying pitches adds to the pathos. Like ''Paani Da (female version)'' (VICKY DONOR), it carries a melodramatically profound background score feel that should work positively in challenging moments of the flick. Impressive!!!

After delivering three 'uber-cool' multiplex-friendly tracks, anti-climax comes in ''Second Hand Jaawani'', a garishly crooned 'item-number'. The song belongs to the massy genre where one anticipates a gaudy opulence and lascivious dancing moves taking over the musical proceedings. This time Pritam pitches a blend of Arabian, African and Punjabi folksy flavors to jester out the flamboyance, but the outcome is too mediocre. It brings out the yelling and screechy tones of Neha Kakkar along with Miss Pooja and Nakash Aziz in bizarre renditions. In recent times, we all have heard tracks like ''Imported Kamariya'' (SHANGHAI) and ''Pritam Pyare'' (ROWDY RATHORE) and this one joins the league.

Tracing back to the finest of Pritam's finest 'bhangra' beat culture (''Aahun Aahun'' (LOVE AAJ KAL) and Sajid-Wajid's ''Soni De Nakhre'' (PARTNER) numbers, the next soundtrack 'Tera Naam Japdi Phiran' rekindles this old flame that has strong UK 'bhangra' affixation attached to it. It triggers off with a funky 'Barbie-girl' electronica feel followed with a trance musical thrives that connects with 'bhangra' beat buzz. Javed Bashir's folksy voice (sounding like Labh Janjua) brings out the ethnicity of Punjabi romantic folklore feel while the breezy back-up vocals of Nikhil D' Souza and Shefali Alvares lends audacity of urbane feel. As compared to the success of tracks in this league, it sounds like pale comparison but still carries the desired pep and froth to make booty shake. ''Tera Naam Japdi Phiran (remix)'' fuels up emotions and pumps up adrenaline to league extent and sounds better option than the original version. This one is a DJ's groovy delight track that infuses loads of energy in highly pitched beat-juggles, DJ claps that connects well with echoing impacts and singers voices.

After a short span of mediocrity, quality and substance makes their notable moves in well-nurtured and well-versed Sufi-Qawalli titled ''Luttna (Saif-ul-Malook)''. It brings back the customary divine Sufi feel that is embroiled in techno-gadgetry and displayed well in the format of a likable 'fusion' work. Pritam's composition delivers a soulful divine feel this time where quintessentially customary ''Sufi-qawalli'' is matched up well in optimum proportions of loud hard-rock metal base displays. In terms of mood and situational setting, it has emblematic 'viraah' song outlook where lover exhibits his distressed emotions. Irshad Kamil's well-etched lyrical-setting too deserves a special mention (''Dil Da Lagna Agg Da Lagna, Yaara Sab Kujh Hai Jal Jaana, Na Tu Dhuaan Na Chingaari , Yahaan Kuch Bhi Nazar Na Aana...''), and makes this one a classy attribute from the album. Masuma Anwar, Sahir Ali Bagga and Anupam Amod sing this with utmost sincerity and it's their refined rendition that makes this as one of the finest in this genre. 'Luttna (version 2)' comes more like its 'reprise' version where significant verses are over-stressed with similar sounding arrangements. Classy!!!

In MTV Coke Studio Sessions, Pakistani singer Arif Lohar showed his great enthuse and zeal in rendering out a delightful track titled ''Jugni Ji'' as now it gets re-arranged and re-composed in more polished way in the last original soundtrack ''Jugni Ji''. In Bollywood sensibilities, all tracks titled ''Jugni'' have roped good results but this version is shades parallel to the earlier versions. This time ''Jugni'' (literally meaning 'female firefly') comes more like metaphor for a distressed beloved rather than a cherubic observer or performer and serenades out her heart-broken emotions. Arif Lohar's deep-throated voice has the depth of emotions and penetrates well into the senses in modulating tones. Harshdeep Kaur's infectiously catchy voice joins him in tandem and gives it a perfect Sufi-western fusion outlook. For all niche listeners, this one is a big surprise and innovative musical move by Pritam to incorporate customary sensibilities in a commercially resounding Bollywood album. Ethnical!!!

COCKTAIL is a ''cocktail'' of varied genres, styles and formats of music. On creative quotient, this album scores the maximum as it inculcates traditional values and delivers bountiful of urbane-friendly musical 'masti' that is going to stay long on the charts and will be enjoying a longer shelf life. On commercial parameters, soundtracks like ''Tumhi Ho Bandhu'' and ''Daaru Desi'' are likely to be front-runners while Indi-Pop stylized ''Yaariyan'' is likely to be raising high in days to come. There is strong feel of MTV Coke Studio cross-cultural feel where blend of varied singing talents have made their strong impact in this album. For all classy listeners, who crave for divine Sufi numbers, tracks like 'Luttna' (both versions) and ''Jugni Ji'' will be a sheer bliss while ''Second Hand Jawani'' turns out to be to be a sore thumb. Without any shred of doubt, COCKTAIL comes out as the finest from Pritam this year, as he has packed style and substance in optimum proportions, and a smooth sailing on box-office will surely be adding to the joy-ride.

‘Not enough talent or looks’ says SRK on completing 20 years

On this day two decades ago a new Hindi film superstar emerged: Bollwood’s all-time favourite romantic hero Shah Rukh Khan, who debuted with “Deewana”. On completing 20 years, SRK says he just “got lucky” and admits he has made mistakes all along.
“Twenty uninterrupted years of serving. Not enough talent or looks or game plan. Thank you all. I guess I got lucky, lucky to be working all the time,” tweeted Shah Rukh, who entered filmdom with “Deewana”, which released June 25, 1992.
Superstardom, disappointment and controversies – Delhi guy SRK has seen it all in his celebrityhood.
For Shah Rukh, it’s been two decades in Bollywood, but his tryst with showbiz began in 1988, the year he started his journey with TV series “Fauji”, after being trained at The Barry John’s Acting Studio. Next year he featured in another successful show “Circus” and “Doosra Keval”.
If people loved his act on small screen, he won hearts as a crazy lover in “Deewana”, in which he was competing with none other than Rishi Kapoor in the lead role. But lady luck was smiling on him and audiences loved his chemistry with late Divya Bharti. The song “Aisi deewangi dekhi nahin kabhi” picturised on them became a chartbuster.
“Deewana” turned out to be a huge hit at the box office, and won SRK a Filmfare best male debut award.
There was no looking back thereafter – only more films, more hits, and more awards for Shah Rukh. His success earned him titles like – King Khan and Bollywood Badshah.
He redefined the romantic hero in Hindi cinema with films like “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Mohabbatein”, “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”, “Kal Ho Na Ho” and “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”.
His work profile is eclectic – he has played an obsessive lover in films like “Darr” and “Anjaam”, a villain in “Baazigar”, a warrior in “Asoka”, a modern day patriot in “Swades”, a superstar in “Om Shanti Om”, a don in “Don: The Chase Continues” and “Don 2: The King Is Back”, and a superhero in his mega-production “Ra.One”.
At the peak of his career he choose to go back to his roots – TV – in 2007 to host the third season of game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati”. He also hosted “Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain” (2008). He was last seen on small screen as the host of “Zor Ka Jhatka” in 2011.
After making it big in showbiz, he turned businessman by launching his production house Red Chillies Entertainment and later by investing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), whose victory at the fifth IPL season was a silver lining for the star this year as lately, he has been a part of controversies.
He got embroiled in a brawl with director Shirish Kunder and has been banned from entering Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium for five years over his alleged misbehaviour with security personnel and MCA officials.
But later he admitted his mistake and apologised too.
“Made mistakes, still continue to do so. A little madness. A bit of solitude. Too silly to realise it’s impossible and maybe that’s why it gets achieved.
“Mom said to only feel and say positive things. ‘Your Farishtey (angels) are always listening and fulfil your words.’ My Farishtey work overtime,” wrote the 45-year-old.
Now, one of the most lovable Bollywood actor is set to return to his lovey-dovey avatar with Yash Chopra’s next directorial venture. He will be seen romancing Katrina Kaif in it.

Most Successful Directors

The director is the captain of the ship, someone who is responsible for guiding his cast and crew. Directors are also responsible for the camera angles, lighting, set design and various other aspects of film-making, of course with the help of various other specialists like cinematographer, set designers, music composer etc.
Since a director is the most important person behind any films, his skills are critical to a film’s success. So, here is my list of the 10 most successful directors today. List is purely based on what impact their movies have had at the box office and the hype surrounding their next release. But since there are so many ‘talented’ directors in the industry, this list is purely based on their commercial success. I am not judging their talent or creativity here.
Most successful directors
Rajkumar Hirani1. Rajkumar Hirani: He has directed just 3 movies but each one of them is a masterpiece in itself. Be it MunnaBhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai or 3 Idiots, all films are arguably the most entertaining movies of the current era. His simple and perfect execution of the script makes him my top and most looked upon director at this time. Even Aamir Khan, who doesn’t repeat directors, has decided to work with him again. Waiting eagerly for Peekay.

Aditya Chopra2. Aditya Chopra: Although he is the one of the most powerful personalities in the industry today, the only reason why Chopra is at No 2 is because he very rarely directs. From 1995 to now, he has directed only 3 movies; Diwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. DDLJ is the mother of all modern day romantic movies. It’s the Titanic of Bollywood. Mohabbatein and RNDBJ were the 2nd biggest hits of 2000 and 2008 respectively, only behind Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and Ghajini.

Rakesh Roshan3. Rakesh Roshan: One of the most successful commercial directors in history, Roshan tasted success with his directorial debut in Khudgarz (1987). Khoon Bhari Maang and Karan Arjun were hugely successful, after which Koyla failed at the box-office. Since then every Rakesh Roshan directed film has done well at box-office; Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish not only made him one of the biggest directors of recent times but were also the turning points in Hrithik Roshan’s career. Krrish 3, no doubt, has success written all over it.

Karan Johar4. Karan Johar: His very first movie, Kuch Kuch Hota hai, established him as a prominent director. With Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, he managed to pull off a casting coup with biggest superstars from the past, present and future. He changed his track successfully with My Name is Khan and is now is set to direct his first non-SRK movie with Student of the Year. Looking forward to it. Can he recreate the magic of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai?

Imtiaz Ali5. Imtiaz Ali: This man knows the pulse of the audience and has proved it with Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar. Each movie is unique and special. Ali is also one of the very few directors today who has achieved both commercial as well as critical success. Waiting to see what he has in store with his adaptation of 2 States.

Farhan Akhtar6. Farhan Akhtar: His movies speak for themselves. Dil Chahta Hai was a revelation, a game-changer. And while Lakshya failed to make a mark at the box-office, it’s one of Farhan’s best. With the success of the Don series starring Shahrukh Khan, he has shown his skills in all types of genres. Tweaking the Don climax, to take the series forward, was a great idea that worked. Farhan has also achieved huge success as a script / dialogue writer, actor and singer.

Anees Bazmee7. Anees Bazmee: Anees Bazmee started his career with Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha or Deewaangee. But the reason why he is one of the most successful directors today are films like No Entry, Welcome, Singh is King and Ready. These movies have been watched by crores of people in theatres and they have such huge repeat value that they are aired almost every week on Television. Sequel to No Entry is eagerly awaited.

Rohit Shetty8. Rohit Shetty: Over a period of time, Rohit Shetty has become a force to be reckoned with. With the success of Golmaal series and All the Best, he proved that he has the skills to tickle the funny bone. But the surprising part was the mega success of Singham which proved him to be an all rounder. Bol Bachchan is looking good and Chennai Express with SRK will be huge.

Milan Luthria9. Milan Luthria: Milan has also been a part of the industry for a long time now. He tasted success early with movies like Kachche Dhaage and Taxi No. 9211. But recently he has peaked with the success of Once Upon A Time In Mumbai and The Dirty Picture. The sequel to OUATIM with Akshay Kumar looks like a sure-shot winner.

Sajid Khan10. Sajid Khan: All 3 movies directed by Sajid – Heyy Babby, Housefull and Housefull 2 – have been hugely successful.  Housefull came at a time when Akshay movies weren’t faring too well and same was the case with Housefull 2. He is now trying his hands in a different genre with Himmatwala. What makes Sajid special is his (over) confidence.. It takes guts to call your film a super-hit before release. Infact, he promised the entire cast of Housefull 2 their biggest career hits and delivered!

I have excluded some great directors from the list because of the fate of their recent movies. Be it Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Saawariya & Guzaarish), Ashutosh Gowariker (Whats Your Rashee, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se), Prakash Jha (Aarakshan), Farah Khan (Tees Maar Khan) , Ram Gopal Varma (too many to list) and Rajkumar Santoshi. Also I am not considering veteran film makers like Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai, David Dhawan, Priyadarshan, Sooraj Barjatya or Mani Rathnam.
Please let me know if I am missing someone more deserving here. Also note, that this list is about the ‘most successful’ directors today and not ‘Top 10 directors’.

No Golmaal for Rohit Shetty

Rohit Shetty, one of Bollywood’s most successful directors, has delivered hits like Golmaal Returns, All The Best, Golmaal 3 and Singham in the recent past. But with Bol Bachchan ready for release and Chennai Express with Shahrukh Khan in the pipeline, Shetty says he has no plans on directing the next Golmaal film.
“I have stopped making ‘Golmaal’ now. I don’t know for how long. But for my next three films no ‘Golmaal’ happening.”
He was quick to add though, that it is the Golmaal films that are responsible for his success “Whatever I am today is because of them (Golmaal team) and their faith in me. They stand by me. They come with innovative ideas that changes the whole perception of the film in a big way.”
Ironically, Bol Bachchan is said to be inspired from the original 1979 Gol Maal film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

Vishal sings for free, money goes to charity

By Hindustan Times
As one-half of the successful music-duo, Vishal-Shekhar, and the lead singer of Pentagram, Vishal Dadlani has carved a niche for himself. He is now going out of his way to promote upcoming music director pair Sachin-Jigar in Ekta Kapoor’s latest film Kyaa Superkool Hai Hum. The young duo
came up with the concept of a cool and funky song called ‘Dil garden garden ho gaya’ for which they were looking for a unique voice. Vishal’s name came up almost immediately.
“Since Balaji (Motion Pictures) has worked with Vishal as a music director in The Dirty Picture, they have a great equation with him. Everyone felt that he is the best fit. We don’t have a very big budget for this film, and we told him so. But since he is very impressed with Sachin-Jigar’s work, he decided to sing the song for free,” says an insider from the production unit.
However, the makers have decided to pay Vishal in a unique way. “We know that he supports Music Basti, a Delhi-based charity that organises music education programmes, and we have decided to donate the entire amount to this charity on his behalf. We have informed him about it and he feels it’s a great gesture,” adds the insider.
The CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, Tanuj Garg confirms: “We were very keen for Vishal to sing Dil garden garden and he has done a spectacular job. Now it’s our turn to return the favour, so we will make a donation to the charity soon. It’s good karma."
Dil garden garden...
Talks are rife of lyricist Mayur Puri being inspired by Gulshan Grover’s famous Dil garden garden catchphrase from International Khiladi (1999). However, Puri denies it saying, “It’s a common phrase in North India used to describe a feeling of joy. The tone of the song was set with this as a hook.”

I don't like to talk about SRK anymore: Priyanka Chopra

By Hindustan Times
Fed up of linking rumours with King Khan, Priyanka Chopra tells Filmfare that she would keep mum as far as Shah Rukh Khan is concerned. The actress adds there's no tension between the two, and SRK is as heart-warming as ever.
On being asked if she now hesitates talking about SRK to media, Priyanka Chopra told the magazine: "Definitely. Now I don’t talk about him at all. I’ve always respected, emulated and idolised him but I don’t like to talk about it anymore."
Any tension between the two? "None whatsoever. SRK is as heart-warming as ever. He recently came on my show on a public platform. He was fun like he always is," the actress tells the magazine.
About tiff with star wives
"Look, if an actor doesn’t want to work with me, he won’t. I don’t want to get into whether he won’t because his wife or director has warned him against it or he himself is averse to it."
"If someone doesn’t want to work with me, it’s okay. I’ll find a smaller film to do, I’m a heroine and I’m small compared to all the big heroes. I conduct myself with dignity and that’s what matters," Priyanka adds.

Veena Malik plays double role in Daal Mein Kuch Kala Hai

Veena Malik is really going gaga in the film industry. She has started getting in Bollywood what she dreamt of it prior to stepping into India. The controversial babe, about whom there are talks that she gets works through controversies, has been riding high in Hindi cinema since the outset. Her name now sells – this she knows pretty well. And to make her name more strapping, she keeps on creating the controversies. We have seen this hot babe in few item songs which she has done so far in films – the more noticeable is ‘Channo’ that she did for the movie ‘Gali Gali Chor Hai’ starring Akshaye Khanna in main lead.
Veena is now being considered hot for the item songs and she even has chipped in that leading heroines of the film industry have to do item songs. She said so in response of Hema Malini’s comment about leading heroines to stay away from the item songs. Well, what Hema said that was her own version and thinking. She was right but as the time is of item songs and every leading babe of cinema has been doing so. And most importantly every heroine wants and asks the filmmaker for a special item song. Thus in this scenario, Veena seems right.
Veena’s debut Bollywood film ‘Daal Mein Kuch Kaal Hai’ is all set to hit the screens on June 29th all over. And she is super excited for her Bollywood debut. The movie stars Veena Malik in double role. Apart from Veena, Jackie Shroff, Shakti Kapoor, Vijay Raaz and Raja Chaudhary are featured in this flick. Veena will also be seen in an item song ‘Madam Malai’ in this movie.
Anand Balraj, the director of the movie, is also making his Bollywood debut with this film. Lets wish Veena good luck.

Teri Meri Kahaani Movie Review

Romantic films have always been the central focus of Bollywood industry since the inception of the Indian filmdom. The trend is strong even in today’s time as well due to the fact that the audiences love watching the romantic stuff on celluloid. Whenever a movie is visualized by the filmmaker, the initial concept hits the mind is about making a romantic film. Why? Obviously, because it is a time and tested formula to make a successful movie on. But not every romantic movie runs at the box office – the ones which do well at the ticket window are the ones which carry good content. Kunal Kohli too makes his journey of Teri Meri Kahaani with a subject of romance but the man brings an innovative plot to churn out a different film for the entertainment of the audiences.
Kohli’s Teri Meri Kahaani revolves around three different eras – 1910, 1960 and 2012. No doubt, it is a unique idea ever used in Hindi cinema. It is pleasing for the masses. The movie has been making bigger ripples among the Hindi film lovers and without any single doubt, the movie’s curiosity was high with the moviegoers due to the subject matter only.  In addition to the story, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s pairing too developed the liking for the movie.
Kunal Kohli’s film career has been goo so far though two of his directed movies – Mujhse Dosti Karogee and Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic could not make any mark with the cine-lovers. But rest of his films did remarkably well at the box office letting the world know his creativity as a luminous director.
With Teri Meri Kahaani, Kunal once again shows the world his dexterity of being a brilliant storyteller. He brings up the unique story idea to chew up a movie. The film has potential to bind the viewers to the screen till the last frame. The screenplay and direction have power to allure the viewer. Kunal’s Teri Meri Kahaani is a triple-treat tale of romance that knits the three stories spanning over three different eras into one single film.
Teri Meri Kahaani is a saga of the journey of eternal love between a couple who raised claims to be in love with each other not only in this life but in each and every life to come up. The love between the couple is much strapping that the fate is bound to bring them together. In 1910, amidst the freedom movement in Punjab, Javed (Shahid Kapoor), a Muslim boy starts loving crazily to Aaradhana (Priyanka Chopra). In 1960, Govind (Shahid Kapoor), a music composer, loses his heart to the successful actress Rukhsar (Priyanka Chopra). In present time (2012), the love story moves to England where the love takes place between Radha (Priyanka) and Krissh (Shahid). Is it a destiny or what that the couple meets in three different eras to rekindle their love but the couple fails to take their love to conclusiveness?  Will the love win over destiny?
The story idea is really catchy and unique – Kunal Kohli deserves brawny marks for it. Screenplay by Robin Bhatt is exceptional though somewhere in between the pace of the movie gets lethargic such as in 2012’s story, the saga begins to be idle for the viewer soon but then gets momentum later.
Kunal Kohli’s direction is first rate. The adroit filmmaker has executed the story brilliantly on celluloid. Sunil Patel’s cinematography is a class to watch it. Editing is awesome. Sajid-Wajid’s music is spongy. The tracks like ‘Allah Jaane’ and ‘Mukhtsar’ are mind boggling and make brilliantly soothing hearing.
Shahid Kapoor delivers the goods with such finesse that the viewers will surely like his acting in this movie. The three characters were performed with luminosity by him. In particular, he looks much handsome in the role of Javed. Shahid may now dream of winning the trophies for his marvelous piece of acting.
Priyanka Chopra is a delicious treat to watch. She too does fine job by enacting the three characters with conviction. Her role of a Punjabi girl will be liked more by the audiences. She is a classy actress of today’s Bollywood time – there is no doubt about it.
Prachi Desai looks stunning in cameo role. Neha Sharma goes well with the role. Surendra Pal is appealing.

'Bol Bachchan' rights: Ajay denies cheating distributor

Image
Actor Ajay Devgn, whose name has cropped up in a case filed in a local court by Nagpur-based distributor over theatre rights of 'Bol Bachchan', has denied his involvement in it saying they have not cheated anyone. "It is ridiculous. The matter is in court and with the
association...he is saying something, we are saying something.

So whoever is right...the right thing will be done," Ajay told PTI. "If he has one point then we also have one point. I don't want to talk about it as the matter is in court. We have not cheated anybody," the actor said.

A Nagpur-based distributor filed a civil case against actor and co-producer Ajay Devgn for his upcoming film 'Bol Bachchan' and Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd in a local court, alleging that the producers went in for a deal with another company by dishonouring the one struck with him last year, for the film's all-India theatre rights.

He moved local court seeking stoppage of film release and refund of the token money. Appu Wadhwani, the distributor running a company Hira Laxmi Amusement Private Ltd, had entered into an agreement with the producers for all-India theatre rights (distribution)
last year for Rs 53.20 crore and had paid a token money of Rs 1.01 crore. But the deal fell through.

The producers later entered into a fresh deal with Fox Star Studios. "We have been requesting him to come to the association and solve the matter but he is not coming. He can claim whatever he wants. The matter is in court. There are two issues in it. I am not involved in this," Ajay said. "It is there between him and Ashtavinayak, there are different issues...both have filed case in the court. Nobody is cheating anybody. The court will decide and whatever they decide will be done," he added.

'Bol Bachchan' is a romantic-comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty, and starring Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai in lead roles. Inspired by the 1979 comic flick 'Golmaal, the film is slated for release on July 6. PTI

Leading actors refused to star in "Kai Po Che": Director

Image

Director Abhishek Kapoor, who is adapting Chetan Bhagat's book "3 Mistakes of My Life" for the big screen, says leading Bollywood actors refused to be a part of "Kai Po Che" because it is a multi-starrer. The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput of "Pavitra Rishta" fame, "Love Sex And Dhokha" actor Raj Kumar Yadav, TV actor Amit Sadh and "Aisha" actress Amrita Puri.
Kapoor said he initially approached few big stars for his movie but was turned down by them because they didn't want to star in a three hero film.
"Initially I tried to get some big names on board but they all had some apprehensions because they didn't want to work in three-hero film. Especially the younger lot as they
are so vulnerable - they think 'If I do this film then what will be my future?'," Kapoor told PTI.

However, the "Rock On" director is glad he didn't spend much time running behind the stars and is satisfied with his choice of actors. "I wouldn't change the script to suit anyone. They are three friends and they should be equal. It should not be that one is a hero and other two are flunkies. Big actors are not authorities on what is a good film or bad film. I can't decide
